After finishing first in the single and dual mogul events last weekend in Aspen, Steamboat Springs skier Caterina Mader looks like a skier just hitting her stride.

"Caterina is really making some positive changes in her skiing," Steamboat coach Tim Meagher said. "This was a personal best finish, and she is gaining confidence going into the end of season when these contests mean the most."

Mader led the pack in a single mogul competition Saturday by topping fellow Rocky Summit County skiers Jordan Poyfair and Sarah Ruckriegle for the win. The victory was the first of two; on Sunday, she beat Poyfair in the finals of the dual mogul event, as well.

Steamboat's Jenny Rose Lee was fourth in the Saturday single with Camille Bucci placing ninth, Justine Chellel placing 10th and Patty Hanley placing 13th. Chellel and Lee tied for ninth in the dual event, and Bucci was 17th.

Steamboat's Michael Mead (24.42) finished second after being edged by Telluride's Joe Disco (24.42) in the men's open moguls Saturday. Steamboat's Bo Randolph was 12th, Abe Maynard was 18th, and Sam Tarrant was 19th.

Mead led the Steamboat team in the duals with a fifth place finish. Tarrant was seventh, Randolph was eighth, and Kalen Caughey tied for ninth with eight other skiers.

The freestyle skiers wrapped things up Monday with a pair of halfpipe events in Aspen. Mader and Lee recorded third place finishes on the girls side, and Steamboat's Luke Kamieniecki led the boys with a 17th in the first event and a 10th in the second.

Several members of the Steamboat Springs freestyle team competed in NorAm events last weekend in Killington, Vt.

Steamboat's Eliza Outtrim finished 11th in the women's moguls, and Michael Morse placed 11th for the men.

In the duals, Steamboat's Lauren Crawford battled to seventh place, and Outtrim placed eighth. Erica Damon placed 11th in that event. In the men's event, Morse was able to advance to the quarterfinals before being eliminated.
