Justice center design

is half finished

The development of the design for Routt County's new justice center is halfway finished, said Routt County Building Maintenance Director Tim Winter on Monday.

The architects for the project, HLM Design of Denver, have completed the conceptual and schematic design phases, Winter said.

"This is more or less the last chance we had to make major changes to the building," he said.

The county is in the process of responding to comments on a permit application to fill wetlands at the site of the center and is going through the City of Steamboat Springs planning process. As part of the planning process, the county hired Fox Higgins Transportation Group last week as a traffic consultant.

The next steps will be to bid for construction and start building the justice center, Winter said.

Housing Authority

candidates chosen

Routt County and the City of Steamboat Springs are interviewing representatives to serve on the Yampa Valley Regional Housing Authority.

The entities received 22 applications for positions and then chose 17 applicants to interview. County and city officials hope to be able to ratify the nine- to 13-member board of directors at a joint meeting Feb. 11, said Routt County Commissioner Doug Monger.

Monger said that 13 people likely will be chosen, bringing the board of directors to 15 people with Routt County Commissioner Nancy Stahoviak as the county representative and Loui Antonucci as the city representative.

The members will serve for staggered three-year terms.

Rock Solid Aerobics offers classes in Oak Creek
