Creative dance classes winter session to begin
The winter session of creative dance classes offered by children's danceworks begins the week of Jan. 10 and runs through Feb. 18.
Classes are for children ages 3 to 10. Parent-toddler classes and a boys-only workshop with male guest teachers will be offered. All classes are held at Northwest Ballet Studio, 326 Oak St. For more information and to register, call Wendy at 736-1005.
Meeting Wednesday for recreational volleyball
The city of Steamboat Springs will hold a meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday for all team captains and anyone interested in playing on a team for the Winter Coed Volleyball League. The meeting is in the Parks & Recreation office. The season runs from late-January to mid-April with games on Wednesday evenings. League fees and schedule information will be discussed. A group of six forms a team. There also are opportunities to join a team as an individual. Call 879-4300.
Library continues book discussions for girls
Bud Werner Memorial Library will continue its popular book discussion series for girls and women called "It's a Girl Thing" this spring. This free program is open to girls ages 10 to 12 and a woman partner such as a mom, grandma, friend or teacher. Pairs may sign up for one or two discussions.
Program dates are Feb. 4, March 4 and April 8. Programs run from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the library. The library will give each pair a copy of the discussion book to keep. Registration is required and begins Monday. Call the library at 879-0240 or stop by the children's desk to sign up. Space is limited.
Winter Sports Club seeks volunteers for event
The Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club is seeking volunteers for an FIS/USSA Alpine Snowboard event Monday and Tuesday at Howelsen Hill. The event is from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Volunteers can earn lift tickets and lunch. Call 879-0695 ext. 100.

On request from families, volunteers provide home visits, which includes gift bags and information about community resources and child development. The home-visiting program is available at no cost to parents in Routt County. Volunteer training will be held Jan. 29. Call 879-0977 for more information.

Volunteers are needed for the 2005 Disabled World Cup. Strong, hardworking people are needed for outdoor positions helping to prepare for the event, which will be from Jan. 10 to 13.
