Medical center's phone system to have outages

Yampa Valley Medical Center's phone system will experience intermittent phone outages between 9:30 and 10 a.m. Friday. The hospital is installing digital ports to upgrade its phone system.

"The outage will not last a solid half-hour," YVMC Public Relations Director Christine McKelvie said. "Some calls will get through during the technology upgrade. However, if you need to reach Yampa Valley Medical Center on Friday morning, the best times to do so are before 9:30 or after 10."

2005 Disabled World Cup in need of volunteers

Volunteers are needed for the 2005 Disabled World Cup. Strong, hardworking people are needed for outdoor positions helping to prepare for the event, which will be held from Jan. 10 to 13. Volunteers earn vouchers for one-day ski passes to the Steamboat Ski Area. Call 879-0880, ext. 209, and leave a message.

Volunteers, ski teams needed for MS event

Volunteers and ski teams are needed for the Jimmie Heuga Snow Express for MS and the fourth annual Music Jam and silent auction, which will be held Jan. 22 at the Depot Art Center. Call Wes Dearborn at 846-2333.

Fairgrounds indoor arena available for riding

The Routt County Fairgrounds indoor arena is available for open horseback riding. The cost is $5 for a two-hour session and $100 punch cards are available. Open riding schedules can be picked up at Soda Creek Western Mercantile, Elk River Farm and Feed, Horses Etc. in Craig, or the feed store in Hayden. The schedule is posted online at www.routtcountyfair. org under "Community Information -- Recreation" and "Horseback Riding."
