All LIFT-UP of Routt County sites will be closed for the holidays from today to Jan. 2. They will reopen on their regular schedule the first week of January. Call 870-0727.

Figure Skating Club to hold annual ice show

"The Polar Express on Ice," the Steamboat Springs Figure Skating Club's annual ice show, is at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at Howelsen Ice Arena. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the door or in advance at Celebrations. Call 846-3352.

Pilot & Today seeking Editorial Board members

The Steamboat Pilot & Today is accepting letters of interest from community representatives interested in serving on the newspaper's Editorial Board. The community representatives would serve a four-month term beginning Jan. 1.

The Editorial Board is made up of two community representatives and four members of the newspaper staff. Newspaper staff members on the board are publisher Suzanne Schlicht, editor Scott Stanford, city editor Melissa Roddy and reporter Tom Ross. The Editorial Board formulates the Our View opinions expressed on the ViewPoints page of the newspaper.

Readers interested in serving on the Editorial Board should send a letter of 500 words or less expressing their interest in the board to Stanford at or at P.O. Box 774827; Steamboat Springs, CO 80477. Letters also may be dropped off at the Pilot & Today office at 1901 Curve Plaza. Letters are due today.

Fairgrounds indoor arena open for horseback riding

The Routt County Fairgrounds indoor arena is now available for open horseback riding. The cost is $5 for a two-hour session, and $100 punch cards are available. The schedule is posted online at under "Community Information -- Recreation" and "Horseback Riding."
