Robert W. Bedell


Longtime Routt County resident Robert W. Bedell passed away Dec. 9, 2004, at his home in Hayden following a lengthy illness. He was 66.

Bob was born Jan. 12, 1938, in Steamboat Springs to Orval and Lily White Bedell. He was raised in Clark and graduated from Steamboat Springs High School in 1957.

Bob worked in construction for many years, primarily as a heavy-equipment operator for major state projects, including the construction of the Eisenhower Tunnel and Vail Pass.

He married Carolyn Brady on Feb. 24, 1970, in Colorado Springs. The couple had two children together.

They lived in Kremmling before moving to Hayden in October 1978. While living in Hayden, Bob worked for the Routt County Road and Bridge Department and was a foreman in its Hayden shop.

Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and four-wheeling.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Carolyn.

Bob is survived by two sons, Glen R. Bedell of Hayden and William Bedell of Fort Collins; a daughter, Sabra Ann; two grandchildren, Madison and Brenner; and four brothers, Richard and his wife Sue, Orval and David, all of Clark, and Donald Bedell of Grand Junction. He also is survived by his mother-in-law, Alice Brady of Hayden.

Memorial services were held Dec. 15, 2004, at the Hayden Congregational Church.
