Telephone books can be recycled through today

Today is the last day that old telephone books can be recycled at City Market in Central Park Plaza, courtesy of Yampa Valley Recycles. Call 870-7575.

Donations sought for 'Support the Troops' drive

Monetary and tangible donations are being sought for the "Support the Troops" holiday drive. Tax-deductible donations may be sent to the Yampa Valley Community Foundation, P.O. Box 774965, Steamboat Springs, CO 80477. "Support the Troops" should be written on check memo lines. Tangible donations may be dropped off at Steamboat Real Estate Inc. or Prudential Steamboat Realty. West Routt Library District seeking trustee

The West Routt Library District has one opening on its board of trustees. Hayden residents interested in serving on the seven-member board are asked to stop by the Hayden Public Library to pick up an application form. This is a voluntary position, and the term will begin Jan. 1. Call the library at 276-3777.

Oak Creek performing arts presents 'Jolly Holidays'

The Oak Street Performing Arts Company presents "Jolly Holidays" at 7 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Dec. 18 at the Steamboat Springs High School auditorium. Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for children and seniors and are available at All That Jazz and Off the Beaten Path Bookstore. Children and seniors' tickets are half-price for the Thursday performance. Call 871-1880.

Fairgrounds indoor arena open for horseback riding

The Routt County Fairgrounds indoor arena is now available for open horseback riding. The cost is $5 for a two-hour session, and $100 punch cards are available. Open riding schedules can be picked up at Soda Creek Western Mercantile, Elk River Farm and Feed, Horses Etc. in Craig, or the feed store in Hayden. The schedule is posted online at www.routtcounty fair.org under "Community Information -- Recreation" and "Horseback Riding."

Middle school holding book fair Monday

The Steamboat Springs Middle School will host a book fair from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday.

Youth group selling trees to benefit mission projects

The United Methodist Youth Group is selling trees at the church, Eighth and Oak streets. Proceeds will fund summer mission projects of the youth group.
