Strings Presents Gala Holiday Concert with Pianist Wendy Chen


At the age of seventeen, she won First Prize in the National Chopin Competition, and was then awarded the Irving S. Gilmore Young Artists Award and named a Presidential Scholar by the National Foundation for the Arts. She received her Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from The Peabody Conservatory. Ms. Chen has performed in 35 of the 50 states, playing with the Utah Symphony, the Boston Pops, the Pacific Symphony, and the Cincinnati and Baltimore Chamber Orchestras. This season, she continues to perform numerous works as a soloist, including the Shostakovich Concerto No. 1 with the Cincinnati Symphony and Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue with the Phoenix and Wichita Symphonies.

After a stunning performance in last years' Winter Concert Series, Wendy Chen (National Chopin Competition Winner) returns to Strings to present a solo piano performance in this year's Gala Holiday Concert. The evening will include a complimentary champagne and hors d'oeuvres reception beginning at 6:30 p.m., followed by the concert at 7:30 p.m.
