Cheriene Marchus, a write-in candidate for this year's District 2 county commissioner race, resigned from her job as administrative assistant for Routt County last week.
Marchus, who had been on authorized leave since the end of August, turned in her resignation Dec. 1, the day that her authorized leave ran out, County Manager Tom Sullivan said.
Marchus could not be reached for comment Thursday.
Sullivan said he could not discuss the terms of Marchus' authorized leave, as it was a personnel issue. Different types of leaves can be issued to employees under different circumstances, he said.
Marchus worked as a secretary and receptionist in the county commissioners office. While she was on authorized leave, other county employees from a variety of offices filled in, Sullivan said.
Now that Marchus has resigned, county officials are looking to fill her position permanently. They are advertising for a receptionist and secretary who has a high school diploma or general educational development certificate, and one to three years of experience or a combination of education and training, Personnel Director Chris Hensen said. The entry level pay for the job is $11.91 an hour.
In the meantime, the county will continue to use other staff to fill the position.
