A getaway without the drive

Anglers Court home has a country feel and a great location

An out-of-town feel close to town -- that's one of the biggest advantages of a spec home recently completed on Anglers Court.

Built on an end lot in the Anglers Ridge subdivision, the 4,695-square-foot home is on almost an acre of land that adjoins the Rita Valentine Park -- about 40 acres of city-owned open space.

"The location really has a country feel even though it's well within the city limits," said listing broker Todd Asbury of Colorado Group Realty.

Amaron-Folkestad General Contractors, also part owner in the project, built the home on one of the few vacant lots remaining in the 13-lot subdivision on Anglers Court just off Anglers Drive near Sundance Plaza.

Offered at $1.985 million, the two-level home has four bedrooms and four bathrooms as well as two stone fireplaces and an oversized three-car garage.

The master suite, as well as a gourmet kitchen, living room and dining room, are on the main floor and all have vaulted ceilings.

The garden level includes three bedrooms as well as a recreation room and large wet bar.

The home's design maximizes dramatic and unobstructed views of Mount Werner with large windows as well as a spacious deck and patio, Asbury said.

Assisted by Steamboat architect Michael Olsen, builders achieved a lodge look using heavy hand-scribed timbers throughout the home. Knotty alder doors and trim as well as wide plank pecan wood floors in the living room, dining room and kitchen contribute to the Western feel.

No tile can be found in the bathrooms, which are finished with stone, granite and marble. The kitchen also has granite countertops, Asbury said.

Finishing the home's exterior is heavy slab and stained shingle siding and Telluride fieldstone.

Landscapers are putting the finishing touches on the property.

With its location close to town and the ski mountain, Asbury is optimistic the home will appeal to a variety of buyers.

"It's a great location for locals, and it has the excitement and features resort buyers want," Asbury said. "I think it lends itself to both."
