Police investigating
weekend burglaries
Two burglaries were reported in Steamboat Springs over the weekend.
Sunday afternoon, a report was made that a $1,250 mountain bike and a $400 humidifier were stolen from a residence in the 700 block of Pine Street, Steamboat Springs Police Sgt. Nick Bosick said. Another $300 worth of damage was done to the home's drywall. Bosick said holes were punched in the wall.
The police have a suspect in the burglary, which occurred in a 20-minute time frame around midnight Sunday morning, Bosick said.
Another burglary was reported at Paisano's Pizza on Fifth Street. Between 10:30 p.m. Saturday and 9:40 a.m. Sunday, more than 200 CDs, worth about $400, were stolen from the pizza shop, Bosick said. The building was entered through a broken window.
Ladies Recreation Club hosting afternoon tea
In celebration of its 75th anniversary, the Ladies Recreation Club will host an afternoon tea at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Scott Center off Rolling Stone Drive. All past members are invited to attend. RSVP to Frances Wither at 879-9665.
Steamboat Dance Theatre taking applications
Steamboat Dance Theatre is soliciting applications for its dance scholarship program. Scholarships are available on a confidential, financial-need basis to students of any local dance teacher.
Awards range from $25 to $300, depending on availability of funds. Applications are accepted from instructors, students or parents.
Students or parents first should speak to their instructor. Mail requests to Steamboat Dance Theatre at P.O. Box 774284, Steamboat Springs, CO 80477, or fax a request to 879-9667. Fall applications should be received by Sept. 5, although funds may be available on an ongoing basis.
Routt Co. PDR program
taking applications
The Routt County Purchase of Development Rights Program is accepting applications for the fall 2004 funding cycle. Please submit applications to the Routt County Commissioners, P.O. Box 773598, Steamboat Springs, 80477 or deliver to the commissioners in the Courthouse Annex, 136 Sixth Street. Applications are due Sept. 1.
'Gay Family' on display
at Tread of Pioneers
The newest exhibit at the Tread of Pioneers Museum, "Foundation of Steamboat: The Gay Family" is on display from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
