Sound Off for Aug. 22

Airport unjustified

How can anyone (except for a few pilots with private planes) justify the city paying for Bob Adams Field? And don't use the Flight for Life claim --$300,000 out of the general fund? All that, in light of a 2 percent additional tax? Get real.

Town wishy-washy

I think I have found the perfect solution to the Steamboat justice center issue: Because everyone here in Steamboat is so wishy-washy and everything needs to be debated to the nth degree, why don't we build two courthouses: one for criminal cases and one for civil cases. We have two airports, one for commercial and one for pleasure flights. Why don't we build two skateparks because the existing one isn't good enough? Think of all the jobs that would be created, because everyone works two jobs anyways Because we're all for convenience, how about two dog parks? Two elections, a primary and a runoff? Anything else you want to double up on?

Thanks for nothing

Since everyone else is throwing out thank yous to the City Council and Triple Crown, I thought I'd throw in a few of my own. Thank you to Triple Crown for running roughshod over our condo complex during the last five weeks.

Thanks for breaking everything in your path; I've got a big enough maintenance backlog to last until next summer. Thanks for being rude to the staff and other guests while you were here, and a big thank you to City Council for continuing to subsidize our ungrateful guests. I can't wait until next summer.

Tax district iffy

Here we go again with the chamber and City Council cooking up another jerry-rigged tax district. Why does the City Council allow Kathy Connell to vote on a local marketing district which, even she admits is for the lodging community? This sounds like a blatant conflict of interest.
