Realtors award scholarships

Christine Hands of Alpenglow Properties Inc. and chairwoman of the Steamboat Springs Board of Realtors scholarship program, announced that 20 Routt County college students were awarded Tyler Gates Gooding Memorial Scholarship funds.

Applicants for renewable funds must have completed at least one year of college level education and have been a previous recipient of a Steamboat Springs Board of Realtors scholarship.

This is the first year the board has funded the renewable scholarship program, named the Tyler Gates Gooding Memorial Scholarship in honor of Tyler Gooding, former president of the Board of Realtors, who passed away earlier this year.

"The response to the announcement exceeded our expectations," Hands said. "We felt it important to assist not only Routt County high school graduates, but also local college students to continue their education programs in their chosen fields of study.
