Middle school students seeking a car for project

Garden plots available through LIFT-UP
Several garden plots are available through LIFT-UP of Routt County at the community garden on the corner of Fourth and Oak streets. They will be rented on a first-come, first-served basis. Renters should bring $30 to the LIFT-UP Thrift Store at 718 Oak St. and fill out an agreement form. Plots will not be reserved through the phone. Call 870-0727.
Registration begins for gymnastics programs
Registration is under way for summer gymnastics programs for those ages 1 through 18 and cheerleading classes for ages 7 and older. All classes begin June 7, and prices vary by class and age. Call 879-1624.
Funds available for
The Yampa Valley Breast Cancer Awareness Project has funds available through the end of the year to help pay for mammograms or breast-cancer treatment for women who cannot afford such services. Call 879-1632.
Craig museum hosts exhibit by Craig artists

Environmental Leadership Scholarship available
The Trappers Lake Group is offering its second annual Environmental Leadership Scholarship. This scholarship will sponsor a participant in the Sierra Student Coalition's Environmental Leadership Training program. SSC is an independent branch of the Sierra Club (www.ssc.org).
SSC's Environmental Leadership Training presents numerous skills for aspiring activists. Topics include basic activist essentials, communication skills, campaign organizing and environmental issues. Stock Dog Challenge to be held Memorial weekend
Catamount Ranch and Club will host the 2004 Steamboat Stock Dog Challenge during the Memorial Day weekend.
There will be three days of sheep dog competitions from May 28 through 30. Events also include a cattle dog trial May 31.

Steamboat Springs Teen Programs and the Steamboat Pilot & Today Teen Style will host a Battle of the Bands for musicians in middle school and high school. The event is scheduled for May 21 at the Steamboat Grand Resort Hotel. May 1 is the deadline for entries. The Howelsen Ice Arena will close for the season May 11 and reopen July 2. Local appreciation skate is from noon to 6 p.m. May 10 with free admissions and skate rentals.
