Christian Heritage School could get a boost of up to $150,000 from the sale of six duplex units in the Heritage Park subdivision.
About one-third of the sale profits from the six units will be used to pay mortgage debts and the other two-thirds will be used to set up a foundation as a long-term financing source for the school, Heritage Park developer Ty Lockhart said.
Lockhart initially developed and subdivided Heritage Park to use lot sales to fund the construction of the 42,000-square-foot Christian Heritage School, which was built almost six years ago on the west side of Steamboat Springs.
He said the real estate donation of duplexes is a continuation of the subdivision's contribution to the school.
"We kept four duplex lots for employee housing, but no one bought them," Lockhart said. "We sold one, and now we are offering the other three. I think this could really help the school financially."
The foundations for the homes were poured over the past month, and a construction crew began setting the first of the modular buildings Thursday.
If the weather dries up, construction should be complete within two months, said Casey Bogenhagen of CNM Construction.
The modular buildings take only a day to set in place, but interior and exterior finishes must be applied.
The units, which are almost 2,000 square feet each, will include one-car garages, back decks and landscaping.
One of the units is under contract. The other five units are available.
