Occupation: High school counselor
Place of birth: Lynwood, Calif.
Q. When did you move to Routt County and what brought you here?
A. Labor Day 1996. The stunning Yampa Valley and the wonderful people here.
Q. What's the biggest risk you've taken recently?
A. Remodeling a funky old house and preparing for a baby this summer.
Q. Describe your morning routine.
A. The only thing routine about my mornings is that I'm usually running late.
Q. Have you ever had a book change your life? What was it and why?
A. "Atlas Shrugged." I reference it often. If you've done all you can with all your heart, at some point you just have to shrug and let the pieces fall where they may.
Q. What's the best piece of advice you've ever been given?
A. When pondering our move to Colorado, my friend Larry told me a story about an old man in his last, dying days. A young man spoke to the old man about his life and asked, "Is there anything in your life you regret doing?"
Reflecting back, the old man replied, "Young man, it's the things in life that I didn't do that I regret."
Todd and I went home, had a garage sale and were back here within three weeks.
Q. When you meet someone new, what are the first three things you tell them about yourself?
A. I usually talk about my family.
Q. When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A. An outfielder for the L.A. Dodgers. I used to dream that Rick Monday would get injured and I'd get called in to play for him.
Q. Next big goal:
A. Have a baby at the age of 41. Live to tell about it.
Q. If you could invite any four people over for dinner, who would they be and what would you talk about?
A. The ancestors on both my mom's and dad's sides who immigrated here from Europe with their families. I'd love to ask them about their life and their journey here.
Q. In the Meatloaf song, "I'll do anything for love, but I won't do that." What is "that"?
A. Another remodel.
