Chester Fried Chicken is now 'On the Way'
Regional Manager Kelly Gilstrap confirmed this week that he is remodeling On the Way convenience store in Elk River Crossings to accommodate a new Chester Fried Chicken restaurant.
The convenience store was built to house a fast-food restaurant opposite the convenience store, but the space has never been rented.
Gilstrap said the new restaurant will serve side dishes and a modest salad bar in addition to fried chicken. It also will provide seating for customers purchasing food items at the convenience store.
Gilstrap said he has seen a spike in his food business since the nearby Curve Market, along with its deli, closed.
Area design firm moves to new office space
The offices of Steamboat Design Associates are moving from Sundance Plaza after 13 years. The office's new location is across U.S. Highway 40 on the top floor of the Fish Creek Building, adjacent to the Steamboat Springs Chamber Resort Association.
Started in 1991, SDA grew up in Sundance Plaza with its first offices above the Coral Grill. The company later moved twice to other spaces within Sundance Plaza.
SDA has grown from a small design shop into a full-service advertising and marketing firm with many local clients. It works with Strings in the Mountains, Steamboat Magazine and summer marketing for the Steamboat Chamber Resort Association.
Former Steamboat Ski Area public relations manager Cathy Wiedemer has left the ski area to accept a position in media relations and communications with outdoor clothing manufacturer Mountain Hardwear.
Wiedemer joins Paige Boucher in Mountain Hardwear's Steamboat office, which recently moved into new quarters at 729 Oak St.
Mountain Hardwear intends to take advantage Wiedemer's 17 years of ski industry experience this fall as it launches 30 new ski and snowboard apparel styles.
Steamboat Ski Area spokesman Mike Lane said his company does not intend to fill the vacancy.
