Spectators saw a different team in the Soroco High School gym Saturday -- not just Plateau Valley, but a new home team.
"We didn't even show up last night," senior Hallie Shiner said about Meeker shutting them out 3-0.
"We finally came out to play," Rams coach Valerie Remick said. "Last night, we just laid down and said 'OK, beat us.'"
The Soroco girls defeated the Plateau Valley Cowboys 3-0 on Saturday, 25-12, 25-22 and 26-24.
In the third game, the Rams fell behind 10 points, but they fought back, with the help of a large home crowd in attendance.
"We got a little scared in the third game," junior Karli Babcock said. "But coming back was an adrenaline rush. We just never gave up."
"We happen to be a comeback team," junior Kalvert Shiner said. "Sometimes it just takes us a while to show up."
The only downside of the match came when Kaylene Gneiser hyperextended her elbow on a dig. With tears in her eyes, she said it was very painful.
Overall, the girls said they played every facet of the game better than the night before and last week against West Grand. The serves were much better, Hallie Shiner said.
