Tuesday, September 23, 2003
A 20-year-old woman was taken to the hospital with head injuries after falling off the back of a Chevrolet Blazer on Tuesday morning.
Thecla Scott, of Steamboat Springs, reportedly climbed onto the back bumper of a 1997 Blazer traveling through the paved parking area at the Euzoa Bible Church off Routt County Road 38. Scott reportedly held onto the back of the Blazer as it moved through the parking lot.
The driver of the vehicle, 19-year-old Jenny Guthrie, also of Steamboat, made a right turn onto a private dirt drive also on church property when Scott fell off the Blazer.
Guthrie traveled for about 114 feet before realizing Scott was no longer on the rear of the vehicle. One other passenger was also in the vehicle, Chris Teeters, 30, of Steamboat Springs.
Scott was transported to Yampa Valley Medical Center by ambulance for head injuries suffered during the fall.
The accident occurred about 10:10 a.m. Tuesday. The Colorado State Patrol responded to the accident.
