Construction prohibits dogs, strollers at race
Because of construction taking place on the Yampa River Core Trail, dogs, strollers and bicycles will not be allowed in Sunday's Pilot & Today Run for Literacy 5K run and race-walk.
New concrete has just been poured at the west end of the trail and it is closed to public use until Sept. 30. While the trail will be opened temporarily for Run for Literacy competitors, traveling over the freshly poured concrete in anything but rubber-soled shoes will not be allowed because of the damage it can cause.
The First Impressions Tot Trot will remain open to dogs and strollers.
Race-day registration for the 5K run and race-walk and seven-mile run begins at 8:30 a.m. Sunday at the Pilot & Today building. Races begin at 9:30 a.m.
