Qwest says DSL access available in Steamboat

Qwest Communications announced last week that the company now can offer high-speed DSL Internet in Steamboat Springs.

"We are excited to be able to provide residents in Steamboat Springs with a service that can simplify their personal lives and help their businesses run more effectively," said Kevin R. Smith, Qwest president for Colorado.

Qwest DSL allows customers to surf the Internet at speeds ranging from approximately 256 Kilobits per second to seven Megabits per second, which at the highest DSL speed is approximately 125 times faster than a traditional dial-up connection, the company's Edie Ortega said. She is Qwest's district manager for Northern Colorado.

In addition to Steamboat Springs, Qwest has deployed DSL in Aspen, Avon, Clifton, Craig, Durango, Glenwood Springs, Grand Junction, Montrose, Parachute, Snowmass and Vail. Customers who want to order Qwest DSLcan call 1-800-244-1111.

Yampa's Oak Tree Inn collects several honors

Cinda Garcia, general manager of the Oak Tree Inn in Yampa, recently received several awards on behalf of the inn at the annual meeting of Lodging Enterprises Inc. in Wichita, Kan.,

The Oak Tree Inn received awards for most improved room sales, exceptional overall quality, incomparable safety management, complimentary cost containment, excellent revenue development and most improved food sales. Company President Bill Burgess praised team members in Yampa for demonstrating a spirit of hospitality while working to exceed guest expectations. Lodging Enterprises Inc. operates 30 motels and 20 diners.
