Residents are encouraged to share 10 minutes of silence Thursday in memory of those who perished in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
Those wishing to participate should gather at 5:30 p.m. at Yampa River Botanic Park. Music will be offered. Thursday is the second anniversary of the attacks.

The Steamboat Springs Chamber Orchestra is looking for new musicians. The orchestra began rehearsals at 7:15 p.m. Monday in the Steamboat Springs Middle School Band Room. Hayden Recreation hosts coed volleyball league
The Hayden Recreation Department is hosting a coed volleyball league. Teams will play at Hayden High School at 6 p.m. Wednesdays from today through Oct. 29. Those interested in participating may call Lindsay at 276-3741.
Allard aide to hold Senate office hours in county
U.S. Sen. Wayne Allard's area representative Derek Wagner will conduct Senate office hours in Steamboat Springs from 2 to 3 p.m. Monday at the Routt County Courthouse annex.
"I want to extend an invitation to anyone in Steamboat Springs, Hayden, Oak Creek, Yampa and Routt County who is experiencing a problem with the federal government, or would like to pass along an opinion on a current issue before the U.S. Senate, to stop by and visit with Derek Monday afternoon," Allard said. "No appointment is necessary."

'It's a Girl Thing' series continues at library
Bud Werner Memorial Library will continue its popular book discussion series for girls and women called "It's a Girl Thing" this fall. The free program is open to girls ages 10 to 13 and a woman of significance in their lives, such as their mother, grandmother, friend or teacher. Each pair will be given a copy of the discussion book to keep. Pairs may sign up for one or two discussions. Program will take place from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Oct. 10, Nov. 7 and Dec. 5 at the library. Advanced registration is required. Call the library at 879-0240 or stop by the children's desk.
