Perlman will discuss state's skiing outlook

Rob Perlman, president and CEO of Colorado Ski Country USA, will talk about "The Outlook for Skiing in Colorado" from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Chart House. Perlman's talk will take place during the 96th annual meeting and luncheon of the Steamboat Springs Chamber Resort Association. The cost is $25 per person. County begins accepting LEAP applications Nov. 3

The Routt County Department of Human Services Low-income Energy Assistance Program will accept applications Nov. 3 through April 30. LEAP helps low-income households meet winter home heating costs; it does not pay the entire cost of home heating. The maximum monthly income for a one-person household is $1,384; for four people it is $2,837. Call 879-1540.

Fall's winter coat drive drop-off is under way

LIFT-UP of Routt County and Steamboat Cleaners are sponsoring a fall coat drive. Gently used winter coats can be dropped off through Oct. 31 at City Market, Safeway or Steamboat Laundromat next to Curve Market. The coats will be cleaned and distributed to people in need the first week of November. Call 870-0727.

Optimist Club, TIC host annual Pumpkin Festival

The Steamboat Optimist Club and TIC will host their 13th annual Pumpkin Festival on Saturday at the Soda Creek Elementary playground. Pumpkin painting will begin at 10:30 a.m., and refreshments will be provided. Call 879-5283 or 879-1086.

'Sound of Music' family

to perform in Steamboat

The von Trapp children, descendants of the family featured in "The Sound of Music," will perform at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 6 in the Steamboat Springs High School auditorium. Lutheran Women's Guild accepting rummage

The Lutheran Women's Guild will accept rummage donations for its annual fall rummage sale through Thursday at the church on Amethyst Drive. Items should be clean and in good repair. Tires, computers and large appliances will not be accepted. The sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the church. Call 879-0175.

Kiwanis Club to hold Senior Extravaganza

The Steamboat Kiwanis Club will hold its annual Senior Extravaganza at 6 p.m. Friday at Olympian Hall. This year's theme is "The Wild, Wild West," and participants are encouraged to dress up in their best Western costumes. Advanced registration is required; call 879-5058.
