While recovering from last week's 34-0 loss to Meeker, the Hayden Tigers have made a few changes in hopes of a better turnout against Grand Valley at 7:30 p.m. today.

The Tigers, 2-3 overall and 0-3 in league play, will face a defense in Grand Valley that they haven't seen this season -- four linemen and four linebackers. Most teams Hayden has faced use a 5-2 defense.

After watching film of Grand Valley on Monday, Hayden coach Shawn Baumgartner said he decided to change the blocking schemes to open the running game.

"We're keeping the same base plays," Baumgartner said. "We haven't changed any positions. We have been changing some blocking angles and responsibilities."

Grand Valley (3-2, 2-1) defeated the Soroco Rams three weeks ago, a heartbreaking loss for the Rams. The Cardinals accumulated 214 yards total offense in the game. While the defense played well, the offense couldn't seem to finish.

The Cardinals attempted four passes in the game, but Baumgartner said the Cardinals have thrown more than that recently and have shown a balanced offense proving they have the ability to throw the ball.

The Tigers want to get on the board early as they try to get their first league victory of the season. Baumgartner said he believes Grand Valley is a good match for his team.
