Public hearing today
to discuss county budget
A public hearing on the 2004 Routt County Budget will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today in the Commissioners Hearing Room of the Routt County Courthouse Annex.
The proposed $41.3 million budget is $5.1 million more than in 2003, an increase that can mostly be attributed to the construction of the court-ordered justice center.
Revenues also went up to $38.7 million, an increase of $4.7 million from 2003 levels, but most of that increase is because of the $7 million in certificates of participation the county plans to issue for the construction of the justice center.
Routt County commissioners will have the chance to adopt the budget tonight after taking public comment. Anyone interested is encouraged to attend.
