A man who was hunting alone in the Hayden area was electrocuted Monday when lightning struck his rifle, Solandt Medical Clinic Nurse Debbie Doolin said.
The man, whom hospital officials would not name because of patient privacy policies, walked into Solandt Medical Center on Jackson Avenue about 11 p.m., Doolin said. She said the man appeared OK, just fatigued. Medical Center staff performed basic diagnostic tests and called an ambulance to transport him to Yampa Valley Medical Center in Steamboat Springs at 11.43 a.m. for further testing, Doolin said.
