Man, 34, found dead in Walton Pond residence

A 34-year-old man was found dead in a Walton Pond residence Monday morning.

The Routt County Coroner's Office and the Steamboat Springs Police Department are investigating the death.

An autopsy is being done to determine the cause of death, Routt County Coroner Dwight Murphy said. An autopsy report should be released Friday.

"Just the fact that he was young with no pre-existing health conditions (makes us think) something is going on there," Murphy said.

The police report shows the man was found blue and not breathing at a residence in the 700 block of Walton Pond Circle. The call was made at 6:58 a.m. Monday.

She said the man appeared OK, just fatigued. Medical Center staff performed basic diagnostic tests and called an ambulance to transport him to Yampa Valley Medical Center in Steamboat Springs at 11.43 a.m. for further testing, Doolin said.
