Salvation Army looking for volunteer bell ringers

Bell ringers are needed for the local Salvation Army's annual Christmas Kettle Campaign. The campaign runs from Nov. 28 to Dec. 24. One- or two-hour shifts are available at selected sites on Thursday and Friday evenings, weekends and every day during the week of Christmas. Money goes toward the emergency needs of Routt County families. To volunteer, call 879-8192.

for historic designation

Applications for local historic designation are available in the Routt County commissioners' office in the Routt County Courthouse Annex. Completed applications are due Wednesday and will be reviewed by the Routt County Historic Preservation Board at its quarterly meeting Dec. 10.

Women's guild hosts craft sale, brunch Saturday

The Lutheran Women's Guild's annual Christmas Cupboard, Cookie, Caper and Brunch craft sale is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the church on Amethyst Drive.

9News Health Fair

to feature presentations

The first 9News Health Fair for teens in Steamboat Springs is at The Lowell Whiteman School gymnasium Tuesday. Professionals in fields ranging from psychology to dentistry to massage therapy will be giving 10-minute presentations throughout the day, from 1 to 4 p.m. Blood screening won't be available at this fair. to serve on focus group

Parks and Recreation youth programs are looking for people to serve in a youth programs focus group. The group will gather viewpoints and ideas to enhance the quality of programs. Seminar helps people reduce risk, raise returns

Wachovia Securities and Routt County United Way sponsor "Money Managers: A better way to invest" about how top advisers help their clients reduce risk and increase potential returns, from 6 to 8 p.m. Dec. 4 at Cottonwood Grill.

The program is certified by the Colorado Supreme Court and hosted by David J. Gordon, CFP, CIMA and senior vice president investment officer of Wachovia Securities. Gordon is an award-winning investment adviser, former practicing attorney, faculty instructor at The Wharton School and a resident of Steamboat Springs and Deerfield, Ill.

Attorneys and certified public accountants will receive two hours of continuing education credit for attending the program.
