Sunday, November 9, 2003
A truck stolen from a residence in Yampa was found early Friday morning in South Routt.
The1995 white GMC pickup, which was reported stolen Wednesday afternoon, was found sitting in a creek bed off a road in South Routt, Routt County Sheriff Deputy Michael Curzon said.
The investigation is ongoing, and Curzon would not say where exactly the vehicle was found.
The truck had rolled once and was on its wheels when it was found. The truck had damage to the roof and side panels but was still able to be driven.
Early Friday morning, two different parties reported seeing the truck, which was the first spotting of the vehicle since it had been reported stolen.
Jennifer Padilla reported her husband's truck stolen when she returned home from work Wednesday afternoon.
Padilla said the truck was taken from their home in the 400 block of Main Street in Yampa.
She said the truck was at their home when she went to work that morning.
The keys were in the ignition, but she believed no one had her husband's permission to use it.
Her husband had ridden to Denver with a friend. The wife was able to contact the husband, who said he did not know who would have taken the truck.
The truck's license plate number is 722FWD. Anyone with information can contact the sheriff's office at 879-1090.
