Tonight

The free Friday Film Series continues at 7 p.m. tonight in Centennial Hall on 11th Street with "The Navigator" (1988, New Zealand. Directed by Vincent Ward). "The Navigator" follows a group of medieval villagers, on the verge of being decimated by the bubonic plague. They are led by a visionary boy through the bowels of the Earth and end up in 20th century New Zealand. Winner of six Australian Film Institute awards, including best director and cinematography.

Saturday

Blue Fest, a fund-raiser for Blue Halterman, will take place from 2 p.m. to 12 a.m. at the Colorado Bar and Grill in Oak Creek.

In mid-September, Halterman learned he had an inoperable brain tumor. Proceeds will go toward his medical expenses.

The festival will feature a buffet dinner, cash bar, live music, a raffle and silent auction, and a birthday celebration for Halterman at midnight. Alpine Taxi will provide a free shuttle service between Steamboat Springs and Oak Creek, with shuttles running on the hour and half-hour.

Tickets are $15 in advance or $20 at the door. Advance tickets are available at All That Jazz, Oak Creek Town Hall and the Colorado Bar.
