Meadow Green residents OK LID
Tuesday, November 4, 2003
Residents of the Meadow Green subdivision in Stagecoach approved a system of paying for a sewer and water system that involves county-issued bonds.
The measure, which won in a 14 to 0 vote Tuesday from property owners of Meadow Green at Stagecoach, marked the first time a new county policy for local improvement districts was used.
When Routt County commissioners approved a resolution to put the question on the ballot in September, they said they expected to see more applications for similar districts.
The water and sewer improvements that some Meadow Green property owners want to make are expensive, but with a local improvement district, the county can issue bonds to fund improvements. Each property owner can then pay the county back according to the benefit they receive from the improvements.
The cost of the project as estimated by Civil Design Consultants Inc., would be about $1.65 million. Under that estimate, property owners would pay between $23,000 and $40,000 for each lot for the improvements.
