— Concluding a five-month project, the Hayden School Board approved new director districts in compliance with the Colorado Association of School Boards.

Shannon Bingham of Western Demographics Inc. in Boulder has been working on the redistricting process, which is based on the 1990 census. He said he would like to be using more current data, but the 1990 census is the latest information that has the amount of detail needed.

Concluding a five-month project, the Hayden School Board approved new director districts in compliance with the Colorado Association of School Boards.

"What we basically did was we took the areas with too many people and moved them to areas with less people," Bingham said. "For the people who live out of town, there is basically no change."

The main changes were to areas in the middle of town, including moving into separate districts the Golden Meadows subdivision and the Hospital Hill area, two rapidly growing areas that previously were grouped in the same district.

The proposed new director districts, accompanied by the name of the board member now representing each, have the following boundaries.

(Boundaries are listed from east to west.)

District A (northwest): Patricia Bruchez:

South: The railroad until it reaches Lincoln Avenue, Lincoln Avenue to Fifth Street to Jefferson Avenue to Walnut Street.

East: Walnut Street-River View Drive to the Yampa River.

District B (northeast): Jody Camilletti:

West: The Yampa River to River View Drive/Walnut Street.

South: Jefferson Avenue.

District C (west): Kurt Frentress:

North: Hayden city limit to Lincoln Avenue to Fifth Street to Jefferson Avenue to Poplar Street.

West and south: Poplar Avenue-Breeze Basin Boulevard-Routt County Road 65.

District D (east): Troy Wertenberger:

North: Jefferson Avenue.

West and south: Chestnut Street to Washington Avenue to Walnut Street to Spruce Street to Pine View Drive to Walnut Street.

District E (south): Brian Hoza:

North: County Road 65/Breeze Basin Boulevard/Poplar Avenue to Washington Avenue to Walnut Street to Spruce Street to Pine View Drive to Walnut Street.

Bingham will soon put a large map of the new director districts in the school district's administrative offices at 495 W. Jefferson Ave. so that residents can review it.

Terms expire this year for Jody Camilletti in District B and Troy Wertenberger in District D.

Nomination petitions for the positions can be picked up Aug. 6.

The nomination petitions must then be turned in by August 29.
