South Routt dissed

I was disappointed after reading the article, "CSAP scores above state average -- Administrators pleased with results." The headline should have read, "South Routt leads in CSAP scores."

I've noticed when South Routt performs behind Steamboat it makes the headline, however, when South Routt performs at the top it gets minimal coverage.

To say that South Routt "fared well" is an understatement.

South Routt has an outstanding elementary school that includes a successful reading initiative, dedicated teachers and involved parents. There is a lot for Steamboat to learn from South Routt. The elementary school's reading initiative includes but is not limited to the following: reading flooding program, buddy reading, guided reading, principal's reading challenge, literacy carnival, book club (parents/children book club), poetry workshop and more.

Like so many of the parents in my district, we are very proud of the students, teachers and principal. My first-grader loves reading and writing. I couldn't be more grateful to have a quality elementary school for my son.
