Woman, children rushed to hospital after crash

A two-vehicle accident at the corner of Fish Creek Falls Road and Amethyst Drive sent a woman and her two children to the hospital Wednesday.
The woman, who was driving a small sedan, had stopped on Fish Creek Falls Road to turn onto Amethyst Drive when a man driving a pickup ran into her vehicle about 12:30 p.m.
The woman, her infant and young child were injured and rushed to Yampa Valley Medical Center. The man was not injured.
"The back end (of the woman's car) was pretty much destroyed," said Officer Damian Baynes of the Steamboat Springs Police Department.
The man's vehicle sustained only minor damage.
The man told police he had been distracted and was not paying attention at the time of the crash.
