Former Hayden and Steamboat Springs resident Glenn Daniels died of natural causes June 20, 2003, in Paonia. He was 39.

Glenn was born Dec. 18, 1963, in Denver. Wayne and Sylvia Daniels adopted him on March 19, 1964, a day celebrated like a birthday in the Daniels' home.

Glenn was named after two of his uncles, which made him feel complete with his family.

After the adoption, his parents brought Glenn to his grandfather's ranch in Nucla, where he learned to walk at a very young age to keep up with busy ranch life.

The family moved to Montrose for a short time before heading to Hayden, where Wayne was employed at the Colorado Ute Power Plant. Glenn attended school in Hayden, where he was active in sports and graduated in 1982.

He attended Mesa State College for two years before moving to Denver. He spent many years in Denver as a contract painter.

Glenn's son, Joseph Wendell, was born in Denver in 1986. His daughter, Heather May, was born in Steamboat in 1991.

Glenn moved back and forth from town to town for many years. In January 2002 he moved to Paonia, where he worked for Dependable Lumber until he was injured in January 2003. Glenn was living with his daughter in Paonia at the time of his death.

He loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting and riding and racing motorcycles. Glenn enjoyed anything fast paced and exciting.

At the time of his death, Glenn was sober, as he had been for 18 months. This was his greatest accomplishment and his family's greatest joy.

Glenn was preceded in death by his father; grandparents Sanford and Bertha Daniels and Red and Virginia Keeton, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

He is survived by his mother; his two children; his children's mother, Marie Hall of Grand Junction; a sister, Rene Atchley of Paonia; two nephews, Wes Doolin of Paonia and Justin Doolin of Hayden; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Memorial services were held June 24, 2003, at Norwood Cemetery in Norwood, Colo.

Memorial contributions may be made to Special Olympics of Colorado, P.O. Box 2156, Denver, 80201-2156.
