Turkish rug expert visits Chase Oriental steamboat springs

Robert Mann will give a presentation titled "From Wool to Rugs -- a Look at Turkey and its Weavers," from 7 to 9 p.m. Aug. 7 at Chase Oriental Rug Co. in the Riverside Center on Steamboat's west side.

Antique shop offers five-lecture series

FiddleFern, which sells antiques at 1103 Lincoln Ave., will kick off a five-part lectures series July 30 when Malinda Smidga gives a presentation entitled "Bringing the Outdoors In." Her focus will be using antiques for planting. The public is invited, and those attending are welcome to bring a piece from home.

Other lectures dates include: Identifying and Valuing China by Michele Desoer on Aug. 9; Book Repair by Erika Fogue on Aug. 16; Collecting Silver by Michele Desoer on Aug. 20, and Quilts, speaker to be announced, on Aug. 27.

Mad Creek Gallery hosts new show

Stephan Zittel, owner of Mad Creek Gallery, is looking forward to hosting at his new location, 811 Lincoln Ave., a show by noted oil painter Mark Nelson beginning on Aug. 8.

Nelson, who will be featured in the September issue of "Southwest Art," paints minimalist Western landscapes.

Zittel opened his gallery in its new location on July 4. He originally opened Mad Creek Gallery in January 2000 at a space on Fifth Street.

Visia moves after two years in kiosk

Rob Reagin, owner of Visia, is enjoying the luxury of 700 square feet of display space after moving his business to 815 Lincoln Ave. Visia carries sunglasses, watches, hats and accessories.

The business opened two years ago in a kiosk at Old Town Square.
