Fine arts studio class offered Mondays, Tuesdays

A beginning hands-on multimedia studio class designed to give participants a solid foundation for all fine arts will begin Monday and run Mondays and Tuesdays through Aug. 12. Call instructor Ruth Conner at 871-4740 to register.

Mountain College offering basic kayaking classes

Colorado Mountain College offers a class in basic kayak touring Aug. 2 and 3 and Aug. 9 and 10. A classroom session takes place from 5 to 9 p.m. Aug. 2 and a water session is Aug. 3. An overnight field session will take place Aug. 9 and 10 at Steamboat Lake. Cost is tuition plus $123 fee, which covers kayak equipment. Call 870-4444.

Free class on 'Past Lives, Dreams and Soul Travel'

A free class on the newly released book, "Past Lives, Dreams and Soul Travel," by Harold Klemp begins Wednesday. Call Zoe at 879-2211 to register.

Pilot & Today seeking

editorial board members

The Steamboat Pilot & Today is accepting applications for readers interested in serving on the newspaper's Editorial Board.

Two community members will be appointed to serve four-month terms on the board. Applications are due by Aug. 15. The terms will begin Sept. 1.

The Editorial Board includes publisher Suzanne Schlicht, editor Scott Stanford, city editor Melissa Roddy and reporter Tom Ross. The board meets weekly and reaches consensus on the opinions expressed in the newspaper.

Those interested in serving should send a letter of no more than 500 words explaining why they would be a good choice for the board. Each application must include name, age, occupation and address.

Registration open for youth football program

Registration is under way for the city of Steamboat Springs' youth football program for children in third through sixth grades. The program runs from late August through mid-October. Third- and fourth-graders play flag football; cost is $45. Fifth- and sixth-graders play tackle football; cost is $65. Forms are available at the parks and recreation office. Call 879-4300.
