Roommates arrested on drug charges
Thursday, July 24, 2003
Three roommates living in a condominium along Burgess Creek Road were arrested on felony drug charges Wednesday.
The arrests are part of a larger Grand, Routt and Moffat Narcotic Enforcement Team investigation, and more arrests could follow, Steamboat Springs police Sgt. Nick Bosick said.
Two of the roommates, Lindy Early, 26, and Raymond Valente II, 28, were arrested for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of 1 to 8 ounces of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
David Florek, 22, was arrested for possession of a Schedule I substance, psilocybin mushrooms, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Bosick said police had information that the roommates were growing marijuana at the condo and had been selling it. A Routt County judge issued an arrest warrant based on that information.
Evidence indicated there had been a marijuana-growing operation in the residence at some point, but it was not active when the arrests were made Wednesday.
GRAMNET made the arrests, assisted by the Routt County Sheriff's Office and the Steamboat Springs Police Department.
Early and Valente were booked into the Routt County Jail on $5,000 bond; Florek's bond was set for $20,000. All three of the roommates posted bond and were released Wednesday.
They are scheduled to appear in court Aug. 19.
