Chair Affair Auction nears

The third annual Chair Affair Auction sponsored by the Mixed Media Painting School of Steamboat Springs is scheduled for Aug. 23 in the front yard of the Sequoia Building, 141 Ninth St.

Arts Council

to put on show

The Steamboat Springs Arts Council is accepting applications from Colorado artists for a one-person or small group show at the Eleanor Bliss Center for the Arts at the Depot. Exhibit dates are Feb. 13 to March 21, 2004.

Dates for private exhibits in the Small Works Gallery will be determined in August. Please e-mail arts@steamboatspringsarts.com or call 879-9008 for entry guidelines. Proposals must be received by Oct. 1.

Paint wooden chair, furniture

Mixed-media painting school members and other creative people are invited to create a work of art from a wooden chair or piece of wooden furniture. The deadline for completion is Aug. 6.

The proceeds benefit the painting school scholarship fund to be awarded to an artist of Routt or Moffat county. The winning artist will give a public demonstration of what he/she learned from the experience.

SummerArt exhibit and sale

The Steamboat Springs Arts Council is expecting to receive entries from nearly 100 artists for the SummerArt 2003 exhibit, a juried multimedia fine art exhibit and sale. The show will include pastel/oil painting, water media, drawing/printmaking, mixed media, photography and multidimensional pieces, with cash prizes awarded for best of show and for each media category. Award winners from previous years also will be invited to submit new work for display at the exhibit in the Small Works Gallery.

The exhibit opens with a public reception and awards presentation Aug. 1.

County's vows on exhibit

The exhibit, "A Century of Valley Vows: A Community Exhibit," is now on display at the Tread of Pioneers Museum. The exhibit traces the traditions, people and attire from weddings in Routt County over the past century.

'Magic Flute' tickets on sale

"The Magic Flute" opera tickets are now available for purchase. "Magic Flute" opens Aug. 15. Tickets are available online at: www.EmeraldCityOpera.org or by calling 879-1996. Tickets also are available at The Depot, All That Jazz or Steamboat Central Reservations.

Artwork up for silent auction

The Emerald City Opera Inaugural Season Artwork is up for silent auction and is on display at the Comb Goddess salon and gallery, 1104 Lincoln Ave., Suite 102.

ArtLink runs every Thursday

Steamboat Springs Transit ArtLink runs every Thursday, beginning at 11:30 a.m. at the Stock Bridge Center. The bus makes a continuous loop between town and the mountain, stopping at or near 49 participating art/music/fine craft and historic sites. ArtLink leaves Stock Bridge every hour on the half hour until 7:30 p.m. Consult the SST schedule or visit www.artlinksteamboat.org.
