Teen injured in crash

is in fair condition

A hospitalized teenager injured in a car crash Thursday was upgraded to fair condition Friday.

Danielle Iacovetto, 17, of Oak Creek, is in the intensive care unit of Yampa Valley Medical Center, spokeswoman Christine McKelvie said.

Iacovetto was one of three people involved in an accident about 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and Pine Grove Road.

Iacovetto was sitting in the front passenger seat of a Subaru Legacy that was broadsided by a northbound semi-trailer when the driver of the Subaru attempted to turn left from southbound Lincoln Avenue to head west on Pine Grove Road, police officials said.

The driver of the Subaru, Allegra Bonfiglio, 17, of Oak Creek, was treated and released from the medical center Thursday, McKelvie said. The driver of the semi-trailer, Roger Reece, 32, of Craig, was not taken to the hospital, police said.

No citations had been issued as of Friday afternoon, and the investigation into the accident was still taking place, police said.
