Colorado DOW offering hunter education class
The Colorado Division of Wildlife offers a hunter education class from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Aug. 5-9 at Colorado Mountain College for people wishing to hunt big game this fall. The class is open to all ages, but students must be able to read at a third-grade level. Cost is $10; call 870-4444 to register.
Breast cancer group seeks committee members
The Yampa Valley Breast Cancer Awareness Project is looking for committee members. The nonprofit group raises funds for uninsured and underinsured women who are fighting breast cancer. Call Debbie Curd at

Catholic churches to
honor education director
A celebration to honor Sister Mary Ann Flax's almost 30 years as director of religious education at Holy Name Catholic Church in Steamboat Springs and St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Oak Creek will be held Sunday. A community Mass at noon at Holy Name (the regular 10:30 a.m. Mass at St. Martin of Tours in Oak Creek will not be held) will be followed by a reception from 1 to 4:30 p.m. at Holy Name. Attendees are asked to bring a Mexican main dish or appetizer to share. Call 871-9691 to volunteer.

presents "Cosi" comedy
The Steamboat Community Players presents the comedy "Cosi" Friday and Saturday nights, July 18-Aug.15, at the Seventh Street Playhouse. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. and the show begins at 8 p.m. Tickets are $12 in advance at All That Jazz and Off the Beaten Path, or $15 at the door. Call 879-3254.
Artistic car owners asked to compete in stampede
Owners of cars that have been painted creatively or otherwise transformed into works of art are asked to participate in the Art Car Stampede during the Beaux Arts festival Aug. 15-16. Participants will be eligible for a $500 People's Choice award. Call 870-6323.
Winter Sports Club holds election for directors
The Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club is holding its Board of Directors elections. Club members can stop by the Winter Sports Club office July 10-31 to pick up a ballot.
Lutheran Church to host Vacation Bible School

Craig Pool Complex's lap pool closed for meet
Because of a swim meet this weekend, the Craig Pool Complex's lap pool will not be open to the public Friday through Sunday.
