Steamboat promises another fun Fourth

The following is a calendar of events in Steamboat Springs, Yampa and Hayden to help you celebrate the

holiday.

Steamboat Springs

Friday

n 7 to 10 a.m. The Steamboat Springs Lions Club will host an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast at the Steamboat Springs Community Center. The price is $7 for adults and $5 for children and seniors; proceeds will benefit the Lions Club scholarship fund. Call 879-5853.

n 8:30 a.m. The Routt County Republicans will meet on Yampa Street to prepare for the Fourth of July Parade. Call 870-2891.

n 9 a.m. Steamboat Kids invites children to walk in the Fourth of July parade. Meet at 9 a.m. at Steamboat Kids today. Call 879-1318.

n 10 a.m. The Fourth of July parade, celebrating the 100th anniversary of Cowboy Roundup Days, takes place on Lincoln Avenue.

n 11:30 a.m. A free community concert of marches and patriotic music by the Boulder Brass Ensemble takes place at 800 Oak St. in front of the Tread of Pioneers Museum. This event is part of the Pioneer Day Block Celebration that will be held after the Fourth of July parade. Call 879-5056, Ext. 105.

n 11:30 a.m. A Strawberry Festival will be held on the lawn of the United Methodist Church at the corner of Oak and Eighth streets today immediately after the parade. Ice cream sundaes will be featured, plus cones and lemonade.

n Noon. Barbecue lunch with live music from country band "Alpine Posse" will be held on the Jack Daniel's Stage at Howelsen Hill's Brent Romick Rodeo Arena.

n 1:30 p.m. The 100th Annual Cowboy Roundup Days' Matinee Rodeo will be held at Romick Arena.

n 6 p.m. A barbecue dinner with live music from country band "Alpine Posse" will be held on the Jack Daniel's stage at Romick Arena.

n 7:30 p.m. PRCA rodeo will be held at Romick Arena.

n 9:30 p.m. Fireworks will begin at Howelsen Hill. Tune in to 96.9 KBCR for a live simulcast of the event.

Saturday

n Noon. Chariot races will be held at Brent Romick Rodeo Arena.

n 4 p.m. Heritage Party on the courthouse lawn, 522 Lincoln Ave. Rocky Mountain Oysters, hot dogs, brisket and pulled pork will be served. The Yampa Valley Boys, the Humble Pickers and 3-Wire will perform.

n 6 p.m. Barbecue dinner with country band "Alpine Posse" on the Jack Daniel's stage at Romick Arena.

n 7:30 p.m. PRCA rodeo at Romick Arena.

n 8 p.m. The chamber music concert, "Made in the USA," featuring composers Copland and Dvorak will be in the Strings in the Mountains Music Tent in Torian Plum Plaza. Tickets are $18 for adults and $5 for children between 6 and 18 years old. Call 879-5056, Ext. 105.

Sunday

10 a.m. The 100th anniversary Cowboy Roundup Days cattle drive takes place on Lincoln Avenue.

n Noon. Chariot Races at Romick Arena.

n Noon. Ranch Rodeo at Romick Arena.

Yampa

Friday

n 7:30 to 10: 30 a.m. Friends of South Routt Library District will host a Flapjack Feed at the Yampa Ladies Aid Hall. Funds raised will support the library district. Call Robin at 638-1019.

n 1 p.m. The Fourth of July Parade will begin on Main Street. Every child younger than 12 will receive a 50-cent piece, and prizes will be given for the best costumes. A barbecue will be held at the school grounds after the parade. Call Arlene at 638-4496.

n 4 p.m. A polo game featuring "real cowboys" will be held on Main Street. Fireworks will begin at dark.

Hayden

Saturday

n 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. The second annual Hayden Valley Summerfest will be held at Hayden Town Park on South Third Street.

11 a.m. African dancers will perform and give children lessons.

Noon. 3-Wire Band will perform.

1:30 p.m. Trick jugglers "We're Not Clowns" will perform.

2 p.m. The Lone Survivors will perform.

4 p.m. Rob Walker will perform magic tricks.

5 p.m. The Smokehouse Band will perform.
