— A 48-year-old Oak Creek man was arrested Thursday for charges of sexual assault on a child.

The charges stem from a case in Jackson County where Jackson County Sheriff Rick Rizor issued a warrant for the man's arrest.

The alleged sexual assault happened in Jackson County several years ago, Rizor said.

The specific charge the Oak Creek man faces is sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust, Rizor said. The investigation is ongoing.

Rizor previously visited Steamboat to talk to the man, but said the man refused to talk.

Rizor then went to the Jackson County Court to get a warrant for his arrest. The man will have an arraignment hearing in Jackson County at the end of February, Rizor said.

Routt County Sheriff John Warner said the arrest warrant was issued Thursday. A Routt County investigator and deputy went to the man's house to serve the warrant. The man was taken into custody without any problems, Warner said.

Warner said the man is a long-time resident of Oak Creek.
