Taylor will chair finance committee

— State Sen. Jack Taylor, R-Steamboat Springs, will chair the Senate Finance Committee during the 2003 Legislature.

The finance chair was one of two key appointments Taylor received. He also will serve as vice-chair of the Agriculture, Natural Resources and Energy Committee.

"With his strong background and experience in business, he is the perfect fit to chair the Finance Committee for the next two years," Senate President John Andrews said. "His agriculture background also makes him an easy choice for the No. 2 position on the Ag Committee."

For the past two years Taylor served on the Senate Business, Labor and Finance Committee; and the Agriculture, Natural Resources and Energy Committee. He also served as chairman of the Legislative Audit Committee in 2002.

"It is an honor and a privilege to be appointed to these two leadership positions," Taylor said. "The Finance Committee will play a key role in this year's budget challenges, and the Agriculture Committee will be heavily involved in the deluge of critical water bills this session.

"I will continue to fight for the best interests of Northwest Colorado in this 64th General Assembly."

The 2003 legislative session began Wednesday and is limited to a maximum of 120 days.

Taylor represents Senate District 8, which includes the counties Eagle, Garfield, Jackson, Moffat, Rio Blanco and Routt counties.

Taylor's address is State Capitol, 200 East Colfax, Denver, Colo., 80203.
