Chix split two-game home stand

— The Chix with Stix split a two-game home stand against Ft. Collins.

The Chix defeated Ft. Collins 4-1 on Feb. 1, but Ft. Collins turned around and defeated the Chix 6-3 on Feb. 2.

Diane Dwire, Heidi Chapman, Karen Post and Robin Schoewe scored the four goals for the Chix in the first game.

Dwire, Gretchen Van De Carr, Schoewe and Post were all credited with assists.

The Chix got one goal in the first and second periods and two goals in the third for the convincing win.

Ft. Collins' lone goal in the Feb. 1 game came in the closing two minutes of the second period with the Chix already leading 2-1.

The Chix fired 16 shots on goal, while the Ft. Collins Flames shot 19 times on net in a losing effort.

The Feb. 2 game saw Ft. Collins rediscover its offense, as the Flames fired 27 shots on goal, winning 6-3.

The Chix had 22 shots on goal.

Ft. Collins scored four goals in the first period before Chapman, a Chix center, scored a goal with 2:45 left in the period, cutting Ft. Collins' lead to three.

Each team scored one goal in the second and third periods for the final 6-3 score.

The Chix's three goals on Feb. 2 were credited to Chapman (2) and Dwire. Van De Carr, Chapman, Kit Rice (2) and Dwire were given assists.
