Jackie and Joe Boyd's son, Randy Circle, spent a three-day weekend with his friends Neil, Tom and Dean, in the Hayden area. For the past 13 years, Randy and a group of friends have come up to go skiing, snowmobiling and to do other festivities. They all work for Waste Management in Denver.
Ms. Pound's and Ms. Johnson's seventh-grade class had a field trip on last Thursday. They toured the Steamboat Pilot & Today newspaper offices, where editors Scott Stanford and Melissa Roddy showed them the press room, rolls of paper, the offices and explained how a newspaper was printed. The class would like to thank Scott and Melissa for showing them around.
The Hayden Chamber will be opening its new office, located next to Curbside Laundry. It will be housed in the old Picaflic building. They plan on being up and running by March 1.
The Full Belly Deli will be closed from Jan. 31 to Feb. 17. Robin Boeckmann and Jerry Cina will be heading to Idaho with their son Ron and his girlfriend, Kim, for a much-needed vacation. Pat and Gary Culver will be traveling with them for a vacation also.
Not only is Robin leaving town, but most of her family will be gone on vacations in other parts of the United States. Joanne, Tianna and Kyle Boeckmann will be vacationing in North Carolina with her family. Randy and Rob Boeckmann and David Silver are heading to New York, where they have planned an ice-fishing trip with family on the St. Lawrence River.
Story hour this week was presented by Jennifer Pierce. Jennifer read and sang nursery rhymes to the 17 children that attended. The children acted out some of the rhymes by being different characters in the rhymes. They then did a craft making the initials of their first name with glue and noodles.
Condolences to Tim, Julie and Jack Redmond. Tim's mother passed away this past week and they had to fly to Philadelphia.
Ann Yager had the misfortune of breaking her wrist while snowboarding on Monday during the school winter activities. Emily Whiteman also injured her wrist while snowboarding.
Emily Hallenbeck spent several hours in the emergency room on Monday after she fell and injured her elbow during basketball practice.
Tony Skufca passed away in Hillsboro, Ore., where he and his family have lived for many years. Tony fought a long, hard battle with cancer. His brothers Joe and John made the trip from Colorado to attend the memorial service.
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Pero and Sally Oliveto were recently in Utah visiting their relatives.
Bonnie Smith was honored on her birthday last Sunday with lunch at the Village Inn in Craig. Her sisters Dorothy and Hazel were here from Grand Junction to help her celebrate.
Word has been received here that Pearl Montieth, the twin sister of Earl, recently passed away.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Franco have been in Grand Junction for Mary Ann's medical attention.
B.J. Barnes made a trip to Denver on Wednesday for a medical checkup.
Diane Girty was in Denver in the middle of the week to visit a dear friend and also help her daughter-in-law Ellie get things in order for her move to Hayden, where she will join her husband, Jacob.
Pearly Gates has been in Albuquerque, N.M., to help her mother celebrate her 80th birthday and enjoy other family members.
