Fund set up at First National to help Stillwell

The Steamboat Springs Rotary Club has established a fund to help Chris Stillwell at Community First National Bank. Stillwell, a Steamboat resident and Rotary Club member, is in a coma in the Denver Health Medical Center intensive care unit after suffering a closed-head injury. Donations can be made to the Chris Stillwell Fund, either in person at the bank or through the mail at Chris Stillwell Fund, P.O. Box 772948, Steamboat Springs, CO 80477.

LIFT-UP offices, others closed for holidays

LIFT-UP Community Thrift Store, Donation Center, South Routt Food Bank and Hayden Emergency Assistance Office will be closed for the holidays today through Thursday. The Steamboat food bank will be closed during the same period. All LIFT-UP sites will be open on their usual schedule beginning Friday. Call 870-0727.

County, city seek people for housing board

Routt County and the city of Steamboat Springs are seeking representatives to serve on the Yampa Valley Housing Authority.

The board of directors will involve between seven and 15 members who represent a diverse mix of interests, demographics and technical expertise. The members will serve staggered three-year terms.

Four people have applied, so county commissioners are encouraging anyone who is interested to send a letter of interest to the city or the county. The goal is to have the board in place by Thursday.

Bud Werner library

continues 'It's a Girl Thing'

This spring, Bud Werner Memorial Library will continue its popular book discussion series for girls and women called "It's a Girl Thing." The free program is open to girls ages 10 to 13 and a woman of significance in their lives, such as a mom, grandmother, friend or teacher. The group will meet from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Feb. 6, March 5 and April 2. The library will give each pair a copy of the discussion book to keep. Registration is required and starts Jan. 5.
