Holiday vacationers will be streaming into Steamboat Springs on full airplanes this weekend.
Steamboat Ski Area marketing executive Andy Wirth said inbound flights into Yampa Valley Regional Airport Friday through Monday are either sold out or oversold.
"If we were able to put additional capacity in place we would," Wirth said.
Wirth said the number of inbound seats at the airport today is just fewer than 1,700. In aggregate, the aircraft are 4 percent overbooked. On Sunday, the number of inbound seats totals 1,200, and those flights are virtually sold out, he added.
Wirth said he talked to one customer this week who used Steamboat's new air connection on Delta Airlines from John Wayne Airport in Orange County, Calif., through Salt Lake City. Wirth said the man told him he had coffee on the beach, caught his flight and was on the ground in the Yampa Valley at 1:30 p.m.
"That's one of the flights that is a big part of our success story this month," Wirth said.
Flights arriving at YVRA today are originating in Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Newark, Salt Lake City, Atlanta, Minneapolis/St. Paul and Denver.
