Puppeteer's
'Nutcracker'
Puppeteer Jim Gamble will perform a marionette production of "The Nutcracker" at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Steamboat Sheraton. Tickets are $1 for children and $10 for adults.
The puppets perform the parts of characters including Clara, the Sugarplum Fairy, the Russian Cossacks, Turkish belly dancers, Chinese dragons and saucy Spanish scarves.
Tickets are on sale at the new Strings offices in Festival Park across from the meadows parking lot, at All That Jazz or by calling 879-5056, ext. 100 or ext. 103.
Saturn near on New Year's Eve
Saturn will be at opposition on New Year's Eve. It will be at its closest point to Earth this year (751 million miles away). Saturn rises at sunset and is visible all night long.
Ski Jam tickets on sale now
Tickets are now on sale for the Ski Jam, sponsored by the Steamboat Ski and Resort Corp. Ski Jam begins Jan. 10 and continues through Jan. 15 with performances by Government Mule, Keller Williams, Seth James, Larry, South Austin Jug Band, Stroller and Trish Murphy. The all-ages festival will take place in the "Jam Tent" at the base of the mountain. The tent will hold one stage, a full-service bar, beer garden and room to dance. Doors open at 7:30 p.m.
A multiday discounted Ski Jam Festival Pass includes all performances for $45. Tickets for the Jan. 13 Keller Williams performance are $20. Tickets for the Jan. 14 Government Mule are $25.
Tickets are available at All That Jazz, Mount Werner Sinclair and Gondola Sports Stalker.
'Century of Valley Vows'
The exhibits "A Century of Valley Vows: A Community Exhibit" and "Foundations of Steamboat: The Gossard Family" are now on display at the Tread of Pioneers Museum. The exhibit traces the traditions, people and attire from weddings in Routt County over the past century.
