Ross Travis named

to dean's list

Ross Travis, son of Judith Travis of Steamboat Springs, was named to the dean's list at the Savannah College of Art and Design for the fall quarter of 2003. Travis, a media and performing arts major, maintained a grade point average of 3.5 or better to earn the distinction.

District winter break begins Wednesday

Winter break for the Steamboat Springs School District begins Wednesday, Dec. 24. School resumes Jan. 5, 2004. Winter break for the South Routt and Hayden school districts begins Monday. School resumes Jan. 5, 2004, for both districts.

Daleena Marie Babcock in the honor society

Daleena Marie Babcock of Hayden accepted membership in the Golden Key International Honor Society and was honored during a recent campus ceremony at Oklahoma State University. The society was founded more than 25 years ago and provides academic recognition to college juniors and seniors in the top 15 percent of their class.

"Our members are inspired and motivated by the challenge not only to be recognized for their outstanding accomplishments, but also to make a positive impact on our world through the society's commitment to service," said Alexander Perwich Jr., Golden Key's chief executive officer in a prepared statement.
